Current Definition

Communities of interest are groups of people (typically coming from different disciplines) which engage in a joint activity. The "symmetry of ignorance" or "asymmetry of knowledge" among the different stakeholders within a communities of interest serves as a challenge to create new knowledge and sahred understanding.
